    Getting to Wuerzburg

    By train

    Wuerzburg Central Train Station is frequently served by high speed trains (IC, EC, ICE). Train schedules and connections can be found on the Deutsche Bahn website, where you can also book your tickets and make seat reservations. Early booking is recommended in order to get special offers. Seat reservations are also strongly recommended.

    By car

    Wuerzburg can be reached via the A 3 or the A 7. Please take into account that these highways are generally very crowded, so public transportation should be a better choice.
    If you plan to come by car, please ask your hotel about parking.

    By plane

    All major and minor airlines offer numerous of flights to Frankfurt Airport (FRA) every day. Airfares vary greatly. Early booking is recommended. For timetables and further information see: http://www.frankfurt-airport.com/content/frankfurt_airport/en.html

    Trains to Wuerzburg Central Station (Würzburg Hbf) depart from Frankfurt Airport Station (Frankfurt (Main) Flugh) every 60 minutes. Mind that there are two airport railway stations. You need to go to the long-distance train station (Fernbahnhof, tracks 4-7).The train ride takes approx. 90 minutes. Advanced booking and seat reservations are recommended.     Other nearby airports are Munich (MUC) and Nuernberg (NUE). 

    By bus

    Long distance busses connect Wuerzburg with various German and European cities, the bus stop of most of these busses in Wuerzburg is next to the Central Station.

    By streetcar:

    Outside Wuerzburg Central Station, take streetcar no. 1 (Sanderau), no. 3 or no. 5 (Heidingsfeld/Heuchelhof/Rottenbauer). Get off at the second stop (Dom). Follow the streetcar tracks for approx. 100 meters until you are in front of the Cathedral (Dom). Then follow Plattnerstraße straight to its end. Turn to the left for approx. 50 meters. Then take the street to the right (Domerschulstraße) for approx. 500 meters. The hotel entrance is right behind the parking lot at Franziskanerplatz.

    By taxi:

    There is a taxi stand outside Wuerzburg Central Station.

    Getting to the Conference Venue

    From the streetcar stops Dom or Neubaustraße, take any streetcar towards Sanderau, Heidingsfeld, or Heuchelhof-Rottenbauer (no. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5). Get off at the stop Sanderring. Walk to the bus stop Sanderglacisstraße across the street (next to the fast food stall). Take bus no. 10 towards Hubland OR Campus Nord. Get off at the stop Hubland/Mensa and follow the street a little bit further. The "Zentrales Hörsaal- und Seminargebäude Z6" is on the right side.

    You can also use the bus lines no. 14 (towards Gerbrunn) / 114 (towards Hubland Universitätszentrum) / 214 (towards Fachhochschule/FHWS) to reach the Campus. You can take these busses at "Hauptbahnhof", "Barbarossaplatz" or "Mainfrankentheater".
    The bus stops next to the conference venue are "Am Hubland" (14), "Universitätszentrum" (114), Hubland/Mensa (214) - see map below.

    Some Notes on Wuerzburg Public Transportation

    Tickets can be purchased:

    • at the ticket machines at any streetcar stop. The ticket machines can be set to English. It is not possible to buy tickets on the streetcars.
    • on the bus

    Your ticket to the conference venue must be valid for "Großwabe 100." A one-way ticket costs 2,70 €. A day-ticket for one person costs 5,10 €. These tickets are available from the bus driver or from the ticket machines at the streetcar stops. If you buy your day-ticket on a Saturday, you can use it the entire day of Sunday as well. There is also the possibility of purchasing a ticket strip for 6 trips (10,95 €). These tickets can be shared and are available from the bus driver or from the ticket machines at the streetcar stops.

    For the street car trips from Würzburg Central Station to the conference hotels you only need a ticket "Kurzstrecke" (1,35 €, one way).
