Daniel Schulze is a research fellow in the English department at the University of Würzburg. His research is focused on constructions of authenticity and lying in contemporary theatre and performance. He teaches undergraduate courses on early modern and contemporary drama. He is an avid writer and theatre practitioner.

"I am interested in performance and theatre in all its facets, from classical theatrical performances all the way to fluxus, immersive practices and happenings. Studying performance is for me a way of understanding contemporary society, its concerns, pleasures and preoccupations. I have a background both in academia and performance practice and I believe that the two always inform and benefit from each other. In my research and teaching I try to combine both practice and theory in order to gain and provide a broad and deep understanding of theatre and culture."
